  • Our Three Artists

This is what my hubby and I found last night after we heard numerous thuds on the side of the house.  Keep in mind we have had so much rain lately and the yard is soupy.

They were going to get in trouble, but Mr. P told me to "go get the camera" so we could remember this moment.  Then he decided that he over-reacted to what they had done and decided to take pictures instead.

  • A Very Long Potty Break

I've been busy with myriads of activities in my home and at the church co-op, so I have put the blog on the back burner for a long time.

We did have a computer crash in May, so it stiffled all our computer effort.

The three amigos are enjoying their "freedom" this summer.  We are going swimming several times a week, playing on the computer, playing church and playing with legoes and trains just to name a few of our plans.

Here are some pictures of the Fourth of July party we attended.  A good time was had by all.  This is Turkey with his "other mother" or my friend Kelly.  Big K says "oh my!"

  • Reflections

Only one more month until our oldest child will be 6 years old.  Where did the time go?  It seems like a long time ago when I reflect on how much we've accomplished in those years.  It also is amazing when you bring home a new baby you have no idea what kind of person they are going to be, but it takes so many years well past toddlerhood to figure it out.

I think he had a personality when he was little, it just seemed to be calm and baby-like.  Now I know he is funny in his own way, has a responsible personality and can be stubborn.  He takes life seriously and can get disturbed by things we say to him or about him.  He likes to please us, usually, but as a little boy he can let his passions get in his way.  Since he was a tiny child he has always been a neat eater; that is, he does not get much on his clothes, face or hands when he eats.  He takes pride in learning to read and loves being the oldest child in the family.  He has a strong personality that often sets the tone with the other children, usually some silliness that can drive any adult to fuss.  Mr. K is a loyal friend to his brothers and loves his mom and dad very much.  I can say I am proud to be his mom and I cannot imagine where I'd be in life without his nudges to make me a more faithful parent.  As a parent you often see your own faults in your children, so I guess in having him first God was teaching me how to be a parent.  That lesson is often overlooked by some, but to me it really has been most necessary.

Gotta go take a kiddo potty.  Don't want any accidents, right??

  • Little Nuggets of Wisdom and Other Comments

Howdy Ho Neighbors!!  Welcome to my neighborhood but don't drive too fast you might hit one of my chimps!

We're all better.  Daddy's eyes are still a little red, but definitely getting better.  By Monday they should be all white and brown again.

This week has been fun, especially in the kid department.  On the way to school today, Mr. E had a lot of things to say, so here is a smattering.

    E:  Momma.  Momma..  Mommma.

Me:  (turning down the radio) What??

    E:  Mom, everyone needs kids.

    Me:  Yeah, they sure do.

E:  Like you and daddy.  You got married first and you married Daddy.  Then you had kids.

I guess he's trying to get the sequence of events right.  I just affirmed his line of thinking.

Several days ago in the grocery store, K asked me some questions:

K:  Momma, who was Daddy married to when you were a baby??

Me:  Daddy was too young to marry when I was a baby, so he had to wait until we met...long story.

    K: Oh.

K cannot imagine his father as anything other than a grown-up and daddy.  So funny.

Tonight Daddy was fussing at Mr. E for having a nose booger in his mouth.  Daddy really fussed and told him he never wanted to see him do that again because of how gross it is.

Mr. E replied "I do it all the time when I am by myself."  I think the room groaned when he said that, especially his mother who is often bombared by his wet kisses.

Mr. E gives me kisses all the time, especially when I help him get his clothes on or off and he is always telling me he loves me.  He definitely is a sweetie, but sure can be disgustingly honest.

The boys have been playing with play dough all week and they have kept themselves busy with it for hours at a time.  I made it for them on Tues. and let them pick their own color, so each one has their own ball of play dough.  I haven't made some in a long time, but I can tell how mature they have gotten with this type of thing.  I have only had to put it up a few times for throwing or just plain old being goofy.

Turkey is doing well with potty training.  I just have to watch him for the #2.  He's consistent with the liquid form  and does not want to stop long enough for the other sometimes.  Today his potty visit was forced, but results came.

I am done with my second smocked dress and now I am working on a button-on suit pants for a friend's baby that is due soon.  He will wear it for the baptism.  She picked out the pattern from my things.  It has a tab in the middle, lined with baby piping, adorable pearl buttons and a set of three tucks on either side of the tab.  It also has box-pleats on the sleeve and cute baby piping on the sleeve and collar.  I am a little excited about it, can't you tell?

  • Sickness Becomes Us

My poor husband has been stricken with the virus for the last week.  He had red eyes last Mon. morning, but went on his business trip anyway.  He ended up being wiped out by extremely blood-shot eyes, bruised eyelids, and fever for Tues and Wed.  He was able to come home Wed. nite, but felt so bad he went to bed, eyes hurting, head pounding and a fever, too.  Oh and he was nauseated.  He had a rough night.  We went to the MD on Thurs. and he diagnosed him with the worst pink eye he'd ever seen.  Drops are to be put in the eyes all the time, but it has not been the miracle cure.  It looks like it is a virus that will just have to wear off.  Poor us and him.  It is easily shared, so I've been sleeping on the sofa and disinfecting everything he touches.  It will be amazing if I don't get it.

On a happier note, last Wed. Knox went on a field trip to a donut shop that makes king cakes.  They got to watch all the steps to making one and tasted a sample of a personal-sized king cake.  Each child brought home a mini king cake with icing and sprinkles for them to decorate.  When Knox got home he decorated it and then we took some pics, since it probably won't last too long.

I'm not a fan of most store bought king cakes, but this one was delicious!!  I split it three ways for each boy to have a sample, and much to my amazement, they all ate every crumb.  Usually someone will just eat the icing and throw the cake out, but this thing must be good.

    I'll post some pics soon.
